A Tradition That I Value
One of my family’s biggest traditions that I strongly value happens on the day of New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Eve my mother would get up at six o’clock to prepare the family New Years Eve meals. She would cook a great abundance of different kinds of snacks and meals from old family recipes. She would for instance, prepare different kinds of sausages with different varieties of chesses, and design cute little figures of stars shapes out of them. She would also have a choice of different seafood patters. She would provide crab meats, grilled shrimp, fried oysters, and shrimp tuna rolls; alongside with our family hot sauce recipe dip. Another tradition that my family carries out on New Year’s Day while we munch, is participation in family games, such as Scrabble, Pictionary and Monopoly. Also every year my mother arranges the games to her benefit and somehow managers to always win. My mother also as a tradition turnes on the T.V. to watch the New York New Years Eve ball drop. In addition, before we watch the ball drop my family cuddles on the couch, and at the same time as we sit together we shared our New Years Eve revolutions. After the ball drops my father was always the one who opens the sparkling wine and pours it into our glasses. This tradition is important to me because it’s when my family and I are all in one place. Usually on an ordinary day my family would be occupied and barely home for family time.

My IDC Mid-term Plan...
My IDC mid-term comes in two sections; therefore I have several strategies to try. The first part of the exam is a written section, and the second part is a take home essay of your choice of topic. The first part, I decided to color coded all the terms on individual note cards to keep them categorize. I personally feel that, by doing that particular strategy it will help me at my best at staying organized, because I wouldn’t have to worry about missing a word. Another approach that I am going to use for the first section, is reviewing over all my notes and texts from the beginning of the semester. I think that by doing a review it will help me refresh my memory. For the second part of the mid-term, I am going to research topics that I feel most comfortable about generally. My plan is to pick a topic that I can talk about, and write the best outline out of. I think that will do me a lot of justice, because I know you can never go wrong with an outline. I also feel that outlines are general the basic steps to writing a successful paper. Also to tie up all my strategy’s in a nut, I plan on taking each study tactic day by day before the exam day.

My Effective Learning Experiences
My most effective in-class learning experience, was listening to lectures in high school. From those lectures, I found auditory learning to actually be the best way for me to learn. Even During lectures in high school I always took detailed notes, because I realized I could not remember the lecture without having an outline on paper. Also taking notes helped me stayed focus in class, and active in the mind. In addition, most of my teachers were all about the concept of students listening and taking notes. I can also mention from this experience, that I learned a lot about my personality. For instance, I realized I love to write, and I can use that aspect in college. I am also aware of the advantage that I enjoying note taking, and that benefits me in most classes here at Converse. I can use that trait to stay focus, and aware of what’s going on in my classes. It is also a good study tool my notes that I take for future test.
My most effective outside learning experience was finding belief in myself. I learned through trial and error that life is about trusting yourself. One of my experiences that inspired me to believe in myself was when my high school advisor of my school paper pointed me as editor and chief. At first I declined, and despite that, she insisted and inspired me into taking the position. She basically told me that I have to give myself more credit than I do in my life. She helped me believe in myself, and that actually inspired me to come to Converse. I am truly a better person and much more positive about what I am capable of doing in my life. Also with this advantage I am more determined to achieve my goals at Converse within my classes. I am also more open to outside activities outside of Converse like volunteering.

How I Look at Integrity...
Integrity can mean many things, and it can also be used in many terms. In my opinion, I see integrity as a word used as a length to honesty. I think integrity is all about responsible and representing firm morals. Integrity is important for one’s life, because it’s a tool of knowledge. It’s something that people must have in life, in order to have organization. Without integrity people wouldn’t trust people, and therefore nothing would get done. Integrity on its own builds unity of hope and sincerity. People must trust people, before starting an organization of any kind in life. I feel that integrity is the first step of that kind of foundation in any organization. I personally practice integrity by staying close to my personal morals daily. I know that some people do it differently, but my ways of practicing honesty and personal strength starts with my personal beliefs. Many people, in life think that integrity is about hard work in whatever they may do in life, which is true in some matters. However, in my opinion integrity has to start with one’s self, not just the effort they put into their life. Integrity to me is about you understanding yourself, and knowing your faith in whatever you believe in.

Managing my Time Better!
My first week at Converse was very stressful for me, and very different compare to high school. I was more overwhelmed by my classes, and the work load then I ever been before. I never imagined how much work, and time that I needed to be put into studying and staying ahead. From the experience of being stressed out, I came up with some strategy plans to keep my time managed well here. My first plan is to use my Converse agenda. I know for sure that if I write down my assignments from the syllabus, I will be a head of my classes. To me, for one to be organized you have to be on top of everything, rather than behind.
Another plan is making some time for me. I know that, I have to study a certain time a day, but I also know I need to work on keeping myself healthy. I think the best plan for me is to set an alarm on my phone for thirty minutes to myself. My last plan is to study head of classes. I know that if I have questions before class I will be more active in my classes. I also know if I read ahead I will be more aware of what my professor is saying in class. This year, I plan on being more intelligent with my knowledge and managing it well.
